WorkBC boosted my employability!

ADMIN ASSISTANT

I had recently moved to B.C. from another province, and being new here made it difficult to navigate the job-market and identify where to begin. I was unemployed for a few weeks and short on reliable transportation (a car) to travel to job sites and interviews. I even lacked easy access to printing resources for my resume.

I really needed help finding a job and obtaining job-search support, everything from building a resume to connecting with potential employers. The idea of accessing professional guidance and resources motivated me to reach out WorkBC Centre Whalley as soon as I new about them.

That was my best bet since my case manager was great! She enrolled me in a resume & cover-letter workshop that helped me shape my documents. I was also provided with a bus pass to help with travel, and paid for certifications (FoodSafe and CPR) which boosted my employability.

I am now employed as an Administrative Assistant at a non-profit organization.

My whole experience in the centre was beyond very good: The support I received made a real difference in overcoming the initial barriers and getting me into work. The workshops, certifications, and personal guidance really helped me build a strong foundation for my future.

Thanks to the amazing WorkBC team and free employment services, I succeed again! I was confident, independent, and able to support myself through stable employment. Finding a job that fits my goals has made me feel proud and motivated to keep growing in my career.

My deep gratitude to all of you.
