Looking back today, it is amazing to see how far WorkBC Centre Whalley brought me.

When I first came to WorkBC, I wasn't simply looking for another job, I was looking for guidance, direction, and hope. Like many people searching for employment, I knew I had the willingness to work and the ability to succeed, but finding the right opportunity felt overwhelming. Every application, every interview, and every rejection tested my confidence.

From my very first visits to WorkBC, I was treated with genuine kindness and respect. The staff never made me feel like I was just another file or appointment. They took the time to understand my goals, encouraged me when I doubted myself, and reminded me to keep moving forward.

Throughout my journey, I had the privilege of working with my Case Manager, Facilitators and Job Coach and each one contributed in their own meaningful way.

My Case Manager played an important role by providing professional guidance and career counselling. Every conversation left me feeling more confident and more prepared for the next step. Having someone who genuinely wanted me to succeed made a tremendous difference during my job search.

A Facilitator helped me through one of the life skill courses offered by WorkBC. The knowledge and encouragement I received during that program gave me a stronger foundation for my job search.

I attended the course with other job seekers, this gave us an opportunity to encourage and network with each other.

My Job Coach was always approachable and encouraging. He made time to meet with me, discuss opportunities, and help me continue moving toward my employment goals. I always appreciated how willing he was to help, even with a busy schedule.

Another Facilitator consistently encouraged and helped me throughout the process. She took the time to assist and polish my resume which immediately made an impact in my job search. I was also helped a few times with mock interviews, this really stood out for me and eventually helped me land a successful role.

The WorkBC staff regularly checked in with me, celebrated every milestone, and continued supporting me even after I had secured employment. One thing that stood out to me was that they didn't simply close my file once I found work, they genuinely cared about how I was doing and wanted to see me succeed long-term.

The support I received from WorkBC Centre Whalley went far beyond resumes and job postings. They helped me rebuild my confidence, improve my interview skills, strengthen my professional presentation, and believe that the right opportunity would eventually come if I stayed persistent.

That opportunity finally came.

Today I am proud to be employed in a role that allows me to use all my previous experience. Every day I am reminded that perseverance, preparation, and having the right people supporting you can truly change your life. Securing this role wasn't just about getting a job, it represented months of hard work, personal growth, and believing that things would eventually work out.

When I look back, I realize that WorkBC wasn't simply an employment centre. It was a place where people genuinely invested in my success. Every staff member I worked with treated me with dignity, patience, and encouragement. Those qualities gave me confidence during a time when I needed it most.

Although I have chosen to remain anonymous because of my employer's HR and contractual requirements, I wanted to make sure that the incredible people who helped me receive the recognition they deserve.

Thank you for believing in me when I sometimes struggled to believe in myself.

Thank you for your patience, encouragement, professionalism, and genuine kindness.

Most importantly, thank you for helping me begin a new chapter in my career and my life.

I will always be grateful for everything you did for me, and I hope my story encourages others to take that first step through the doors of WorkBC. Sometimes all it takes is the right support, the right encouragement, and people who truly care to help someone change the direction of their life.
